2/7/2011 - Tricorn

For the first picture of February, I made this three-hyperbola picture:
Tricorn
I named it that because it is three hyperbolas, here's the stats:
  • Render Method: Hand Single-point
  • Equation: red green and blue are all distance hyperbolas, based on opposite points of a hexagon
I'm going to look into scanning this one, it'd be worth it.

1/27/2011 Update

Been busy with school and the like, so there's been no time to update. I'll be away from tech for the weekend, so I'm working on the Render Methods page to get the basic stuff in. Then I'll start putting up more pictures over the next few weeks.

OaO!

[later that day...]Render methods page is now live! I've only got the basics, no scanners or grids, those come later. I'll also add in a basic tutorial page, soon. I'll start work now though.

First pic

I'll start this blog off with the background picture:
MultiTarget
This is actually the picture I use for my desktop!
This was a hand-single point render (check the render methods page) with the following color definitions:
  • Red: a standard distance method parabolic
  • Green: distance from (0, 0.25) (the focus of the parabola)
  • Blue: standard Hyperbola
(If this makes no sense, check out the (coming soon) math page) Future tweaks:
  • make the parabola have a focus of (0, 1) and a directix of y=-1
  • the green circles be the distance from the origin
  • adjust the foci of the hyperbola
but art is art!
